SD, HD or 4K?
Media resolution has to do with the level of detail and clarity. It is typically expressed as width x height in pixels. The higher the number of pixels, the more detailed and sharp the media will appear. Use HD or 4k for larger widescreen displays with 16x9 ratio. Use SD for smaller screens that have a 4x3 ratio. Video Formats
MP4, MOV, WMV, MPEG
Format refers to the file type or encoding method used to store and display digital media such as images, videos, or audio. Different formats have specific uses, file sizes, and quality characteristics. Every Collection created after December 2018 offers MP4 files (instead of MOV files). Here’s a breakdown of the most common media formats and their purposes:
- MP4 has become the most universal format for video files, and it is likely the best for both Mac and Windows.
- MOV was the standard for video files for many years for Mac (videos made prior to December 2018 are available in MOV).
- WMV: works well for many Windows users.
- MPEG: is an older format for files created prior to newer formats.
